Broke in less than a year

Bought in late May 2016 and broke in less than a year (because I drove from a graveyard, no joke). The plastic lever connecting the base of the slot to the swivel ball clip came off cleanly (photo attached) and my phone fell into the passenger footwell. Luckily nobody was there and the phone wasn't damaged. Very disappointed especially considering I use public transportation to get to work and only travel a few times a week so it's not like this keeper worked out daily but for a $15 I shouldn't have had high hopes for Plastic Father. It worked pretty well until it broke. I have a Google Nexus 6P (same size as the iPhone 6 Plus) in a Diztronics thin TPU case. The clip never lost spring tension, the phone never slipped out. After about six months, the ball joint lost some tension and the phone often tilted to one side. In my 2013 Honda Fit, thanks to the car's tall CD drive, my phone was at the perfect height to be seen in this mount. However the phone blocked the clock in the car which was annoying. In this case, my phone shook while driving, which was annoying when reflecting sunlight or street lights. My guess is that the wobble loosened the arm and ball joint which caused the failure. The holder fits securely in my CD slot.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
