This heater is well built and puts out a lot of heat. According to the product description, the heater has "Overheat protection and 1 year limited by the manufacturer in Texas" and "TEXAS SUPPORT - 1 year from the heart of Texas". I'm assuming the unit will shut off if it gets too hot, but it doesn't have a switch to turn off the power if the heater goes off. While the design makes this unlikely, it's still possible and I'd love to see a tip switch. Should have checked before buying. Regarding the mention of Texas, there is no statement in the product description that the heater was made there, but the information provided may indicate that it is. A Texas company may support and ship the device from there, but it's actually made in China. I'm not so much frustrated with the Chinese production as a little offended that the information provided is slightly misleading. Apart from that, the product itself is quite durable and works very well in the place where we use it. If it had a switch it would be perfect.
