Water turned brown. The filter I received with the pump worked great. I bought these as a replacement and the first one turned the water brown. I had to change the water in the aquarium as soon as possible to save my first. I tried soaking another filter in a bowl and the water also turned brown. Yes, I installed it correctly and followed the instructions on the wrapper.
