Review on Monoprice Keyboard Converter Adapter 110934 by Christopher Millet

The one that really works

For testing I have an Ortek MCK-142 Pro mechanical keyboard, a favorite in my office. This is AT model with PS-2 output. I also added an IBM KB-8923 and a Dell SK-8100, both "blank" PS-2 keyboards. I want to use them on a modern desktop computer with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. Looking for a way to do this, I realized that there is a difference between an "adapter" which is just a wired solution and a "converter" which has electronics that do it helps make it work. The problem is that there are many brands and products out there and there is no real way of knowing if some or all will work. So I grabbed the proverbial bull by the horns and bought one to try. As a result, I ordered 9 items for about $77, which isn't bad for my purposes. I bought: USB TO DUAL PS2 Adapter - white from SaiTech IT; Monoprice PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse Adapter to USB, Black (110934); Tripp Lite USB PS/2 Adapter - Keyboard and Mouse (B015-000); TRENDnet USB 1.1 to PS/2 Converter, TU-PS2; Adesso PS/2 to USB Adapter Connects 2 PS/2 Ports to 1 USB Port/Hub (ADP-PU21); SANOXY USB PS/2 adapter (with cables); StarTech USB PS/2 Adapter - Keyboard and Mouse; Radio Shack PS-2 Female to USB-A Adapter 26-723; and SANOXY PS2 Keyboard To USB Adapter (this is a small unit). I tried them one after the other. All were recognized as keyboards in USB Device Manager, but all but one did not allow keyboards to be recognized and work. The only one that worked great for all three keyboards was the "SANOXY PS2 Keyboard To USB Adapter" - the one that's a small block. Since this is Revain I immediately sent the other 8 back and ordered a bunch of Sanoxy. I thought my experiment might be useful for you. SANOXY PS2 Keyboard to USB Adapter
