If you look at your cable modem's connection status and review the logs and see a lot of disconnects and errors, it's probably a faulty wiring in your house. I replace my splitter outside on the side of the house with a Tolmnnts splitter and voila, no more log errors and no more disconnects. I use the Optimum, with a 400 Mbps service. If your service keeps dropping, check your splitters! The tolmnnts splitter has a solid metal case and is waterproof, my old splitter was rusty and the internet kept going on and off when it rained, I suspect water got into the case and caused problems with my old splitter.
