They are well made and safe. Eventually, the outside of the pad compresses where it protrudes past the machine disc and doesn't apply even pressure to the rest of the pad, so it's time to replace it. I was almost at the end of the job and went to the second of the two pads in the pack, done, washed the pad and thought I had completely dried it. A form of mold has formed in the foam over the winter and has spread through the polisher bag, despite being in a dry storage shed. My only guess is that the pad wasn't really dry and the buffing paste was some kind of breeding ground for mold. Beware.
