ATTENTION! Raybestos is not responsible for the guarantee they offer on their products. I ordered an H7209 fitting kit along with new Raybestos 582PG brake pads but the spring retainer from the fitting kit failed. The pen holder lost its shape (straightened) after assembly and caused major damage. This failure caused the brake shoe in the drum to dislodge and brake the drum, creating a heat mass. The spring that held the brake shoe in place wobbled in the drum until it stopped partially under the brake shoe. This broke the leading edge of a brand new brake pad, bent the automatic adjustment and dug a nice deep groove in the drum. All Raybestos said when contacted was to contact Revain and would not speak to me again. I have no problem with Revain as they send a hardware kit to replace the broken part. However, I don't see why Revain should be held responsible for upholding the Raybestos warranty when a part has clearly failed due to poor quality control in the Raybestos manufacturing process. To date, Raybestos has taken absolutely no responsibility for the failure of a poorly manufactured part, resulting in damage to nearly $200 worth of parts (auto adjuster, brake pads, hardware kit, badly beaten drum). This includes the cost of parts only and does not include the cost of reinstalling and repairing any damage caused. Why isn't Raybestos responsible for the guarantee they offer on their products? I want them to take responsibility for the failure of a poorly manufactured part and pay for the damage it causes. After all, these are parts of the braking system for a car that's cruising down freeways at 70 miles per hour, and $200 plus labor is a significant expense for me. If you are concerned about your safety, do not use Raybestos parts. I would like to be able to give a zero rating.
