After getting this 15 days ago I started looking for linux drivers for the TL-D1600S. Without a driver, this product is about as useful as a $1,100 door closer. The QNAP download page doesn't download the TL-D1600S or the included QXP-1600eS HBA card at all, let alone the drivers (Windows or Linux). I contacted QNAP customer support for the first time 14 days ago, but they still could not provide suitable drivers. The heart of the HBA card is the Marvell chip; I couldn't find any (Windows or Linux) drivers from Marvell either. The product website qnap.com advertises Windows support, "Linux with Kernel 3.10 5.0" and "Ubuntu 18.04.03 (Kernel 5.0) is officially supported". However, there is absolutely nothing for the TL-D1600S nor the included QXP-1600eS HBA card on the QNAP download page. and check if TL-D1600S is not listed in the model list, the product type is "QXP expansion cards", you will see that there is no QXP-1600eS model. After seeing this, I contacted QNAP customer service. (I had to apply under TL-D800C. TL-D1600S wasn't even available as a support option!) It took 11 days and two levels of escalation before they finally came up with a steaming pile of driver binaries for old (kernel 2.6) versions of RedHat- and SUSE distributions returned, far from the stated support for kernel 5.0 and Ubuntu!disheartening that I can't find any which drivers (windows or linux) for the chipset of the HBA card.QXP-1600eS is based on Marvell 88SE1475.Mar vell's product description for the 88SE14xx claims to have "Windows and Linux Reference Drivers" and "Linux GPL Open Source Drivers" but I could not find downloads for either. After fighting this for half a month I have lost my patience and am returning this glorified door lock. It's a shame because I really liked the physical design. Even if I could get the device working today, this experience does not inspire confidence that driver support will be maintained as the Linux kernel evolves. Stay away if you plan on using the TL-D1600S with Linux! You may have better luck with Windows, but you'll have to contact support to find drivers and probably roll the same dice as I did. I checked and Windows 10 doesn't have any drivers installed either. I can't find suitable drivers for either Windows, modern Linux, or QNAP support site, QNAP site, or Marvell site.
