Noise information is not correct - Loud!

The main variable speed fans work fine (you can't hear them), but the PSU contains a tiny non-adjustable fan screamer that causes this Device turns out completely unusable indoors where you want to work comfortably. The specification of 24 dB is a lie. The actually measured noise level is 44 dB with an uncomfortably high tone.

Pros
  • 12 x 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s 3Gb/s (diskless)
Cons
  • Plenty

Not compatible with all models QNAP

I have a TS-1677x and it is listed as compatible on their website. TS-1677x does not recognize an expansion box and after 3 months of Qnap support I had to return it without repairing it. It worked great when connected to Windows. So if that's what you're looking for, it seems like a great device.

Pros
  • 1 QXP-1600eS PCIe SATA card
Cons
  • Modernity

Rugged JBOD suitable for computers and accessories

Ignore the comments for now. Assuming you followed the attached diagram and installed the device management software, the disc is included with that software. I hooked this up to Windows and it "just worked". But I didn't buy this Windows storage shelf. I have a TVs-1282T3 whose memory I needed to expand. Easy to install. But be 100% sure you have SAS cables labeled as SAS cables managing specific disk groups. Look at the diagram what is the cable 1,2,3,4 on the shelf. The controller saysโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Storage expansion for computers and QNAP NAS servers, Windows and Ubuntu
Cons
  • Not sure

$1100 doorstop: no linux support (windows support questionable)

After getting this 15 days ago I started looking for linux drivers for the TL-D1600S. Without a driver, this product is about as useful as a $1,100 door closer. The QNAP download page doesn't download the TL-D1600S or the included QXP-1600eS HBA card at all, let alone the drivers (Windows or Linux). I contacted QNAP customer support for the first time 14 days ago, but they still could not provide suitable drivers. The heart of the HBA card is the Marvell chip; I couldn't find any (Windows orโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 3 x SFF-8088
Cons
  • nothing

no driver $1000 doorstop

has no drivers, no instructions how to work in win or ubuntu. The manual has a link to the drivers which doesn't go anywhere leading to the sas card being completely unusable

Pros
  • Includes 3 mini SAS cables (from SFF-8644 to SFF-8088)
Cons
  • Appearance

Reliable Extension for QNAP NAS

I've had it for about a month now and so far the speed is good. I can't comment on other people's reviews, but I'm using this as my second QNAP NAS expansion and setup was a breeze. So I migrated my existing drives to this one and upgraded it with 12TB drives (HD prices have skyrocketed so I couldn't get 16TB drives). The biggest point of criticism is the fan noise! I absolutely hate it and I will be voiding my warranty and opening this up soon to replace the fans with Nomura Silent fans like I

Pros
  • Running QNAP QTS / QTS Hero
Cons
  • Useless Features
