I want to start by saying the glass lid is great. This seems significant. I was very happy to use it with my new microwave. It's also fine if you don't have 9-inch cymbals. Unfortunately I put it on a 9 inch Fiestaware disk the very first time. When I took it out of the microwave the plate didn't budge. I assume hot air escaped from under the lid and it was vacuumed when it started to cool again? Pressing on an edge of the plate caused the plate to come out, but that must have warped the glass because the rim kind of exploded (see photo) and small pieces of glass flew all over the place. Ruined my dinner, chilled a fresh pitcher of iced tea on the counter, cut myself trying to keep the cat away from curious shiny bits on the floor. Just a disaster. I wanted to like this thing. Like I said, it's beautiful. Ironically, I've managed to keep plastic out of our food, but the little bits of glass aren't great either. Some sort of inner rim is required to prevent vacuum sealing.
