Review on πŸ“ž Enhanced Grandstream GXP1625 IP Phone for Small to Medium Businesses with POE VoIP Capability, Black by Desiree Scott

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Basic desktop VoIP phone with two lines - very easy to set up with FreePBX - unbeatable price!

A basic two line phone that is fairly easy to set up on the FreePBX system on which most PBXs are based, even if they are not free. Read the user manual for more detailed descriptions of the buttons. The sound quality is excellent. A setup note is pjSIP, not chan-SIP. An error occurred while configuring in FreePBX where one of the lines goes to a PBX extension defined as chan SIP. Changed it to pjSIP and this line connected like magic. Update almost two years later: still very happy with this phone. It's important to note that this isn't Joe Consumer's foolproof plug-n-play device. It is designed to be installed with a real PBX and assumes that whoever installs it knows what they are doing with the PBX, its settings and settings and the VoIP phone for it. There is no railing to prevent you from falling off the cliff. Many SIP providers use the ULAW audio codec. Trying to force G.722 for HD can result in choppy one-way audio (you can hear them but they can't hear you) because something along the way is trying to transcode G.722 to ULAW. One of the nuances in the correct operation of a personal telephone system and VoIP. Updating the firmware was a hassle as I'm a home user and not a medium or large enterprise with provisioning servers etc. I finally got it after messing around with a windows tftp server that could be started and stopped after the upgrade. . Read how to do it on the Grandstream website and a little perseverance. Fortunately, this doesn't happen very often (in fact, it's rare). The phone does what it should. I personally believe that most problems are related to the configuration of the PBX and not to the telephone. Also made some changes to the FreePBX settings to have the voicemail and missed call flags work correctly with the PBX setup and clear them. Overall I'm still very happy as it's a handy two line extension that's located elsewhere in my house so I don't have to agonize over getting to another one. This is extremely economical compared to other phones (e.g. Cisco, Polycom etc.).
