Review on πŸš— ACDelco GM D1818A Engine Oil Pressure Sensor: Genuine Original Equipment for Optimal Performance by Luis Green

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Do it yourself! OEM, but will it fit?

My Chevy 02' with 5.3 Vortec started to lose oil. My old oil feed worked fine but they have a reputation for leaking oil. The dealer wanted over $300 for a new install. I read the Revain reviews, watched the videos and decided to do it myself. I found this on Revain but the 'Fits' tab said it wasn't right for my car. I gritted my teeth and paid $100 for one at a GM dealership. I also bought a sensor socket from Auto Zone which requires a 1/2" drive. Removing the old sensor was very quick and easy. Getting there is not easy at all. When I tried to install the sensor from above, the electronic part broke. The Auto Zone bushing was a little wobbly and the drive angle wasn't the best. More than $100 less, I looked at the part number on the box and it was the same as the Revain which said it wouldn't be on the ACDelco parts website, it also said it was the right one Part. I ordered it from Revain without hesitation. I also ordered a Lisle 13250 connector that fits a 3/8 drive. This actuator fits the sensor like a glove. Absolutely no hesitation buying. Hoping to get a better ratcheting angle I also bought a 10" extension which I used with the 6" extension I had. With everything I needed, the new one only took about 15 minutes to install. .Lessons learned. This can be a difficult, but not impossible, replacement. watch the video Guaranteed scratched hands. dog's cure. Big part. OEM. Buy socket Lisle. You'll be glad you did. Try to hold the socket with your hand so that it is next to the motor. You don't want to rob him. The sensor thread is self-sealing. You can use Teflon if you want, but you don't have to. Tighten as if you were tightening a spark plug. Climb onto the motor instead of installing it off-center on the side. The 16 inch extension allowed me to be almost at TDC of the pickup with a very low angle of attack. This also makes holding the sensor easier. You will also need a drive, an angle adapter. If you're not wearing gloves when installing, you'll need a good hand degreaser. If you are concerned, check the ACDelco part number on their website. While you're at it, since you're already sitting on the greasy engine, replace the PCV valve as well, your engine and your wallet will thank you.
