The dual function humidifier/purifier does neither. Also, despite the fact that the ambient air is needed for "flushing", there's never really anything dirty in the filter, but the water does get pretty dirty. After a few days of use I got sore throat and constipation. No matter how many times I washed the parts, the product continued to emit polluted air. I'm only sending it back because of the moisturizer.
