Review on Norpro 335 Nutmeg Grater by Michele Arora

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very Spicy - Very Effective

The last nutmeg grater I had had to store the nutmeg in a spring loaded cylinder so all you had to do was grate it back and forth on the grater. Unfortunately, the spring ripped the nutmeg when it was almost whole! THIS grater works perfectly. It's very sharp, so you have to be careful of the position of your fingers when grating, but it also does a very good job with the very dry and hard nutmeg outer layer. As someone else mentioned, the top reservoir looks small but actually holds a pretty decent "nut". The only minor downside is that some ground powder gets into the unit and you end up with some nutmeg powder on the shelf when you put it back in the cupboard. This is very small and should not be underestimated for this excellent and inexpensive kitchen utensil. I make my own homemade nut milk and have found that adding a small amount of ground nutmeg to a fresh batch of almond milk along with some honey gives the most enjoyable result. A little more nutmeg and honey and you have a drink that tastes a lot like eggnog but is perfectly healthy! I also use nutmeg every time I cook spinach. In other words, this grater will be used regularly and often. I'm glad I found this at Revain.
