Hardware is supposed to be lead free, I'm not sure, I hope so. Haven't used a hammer yet because the pipe doesn't go very far, so I assumed it might not work as intended, but xs. It would be nice if the worm pot had an overflow so you don't have to sit and stare at it and play with the valves to balance the cooling water flow, but I'll upgrade it myself. It works and if it doesn't you still have a 9 gallon stainless steel pot which is very versatile as it doubles as a main fermenter or storage tank. The thermometer is in the lid, which is not ideal. Overall, it could have been better from the factory.
