I didn't know what to expect from them but bought them because I wanted to try water kefir again. I've tried other mason jar lids and some of them have been great and others have left me with regrets. That's great. A few years ago my attempt at water kefir ended prematurely after a disastrous explosion in my pantry. I didn't have the heart to try again, but then I saw these and they looked promising. What could be better than something that makes the process so easy and requires fewer tools? I will tell you. Nothing. I've been using them successfully for several weeks now and I'm not looking back. I acknowledge the lack of motivation when it comes to the process of creating this material. Find plastic dishes, take clean glasses, find a plastic colander. Pooh. No longer. Put them on, wait, take off the lid, drain the kefir, pour it into a new glass, add a new liquid, close the new lid. So easy. My kefir is so active that I have to charge it more often and these lids are MUCH nicer. They are dishwasher safe and are easy to screw on and off. So easy. So easy. I'm very glad I found them because I'm probably still thinking about trying kefir again instead of making it.
