Review on 📀 Enhanced Archgon MD-3102S-U3 USB 3.0 External Blu-ray Combo with Advanced Features by Jeff Addison

I've decided to prefer this Archgon external drive to the equally attractive Pioneer unit, particularly for its metal construction and matte black finish. I'm very pleased with the looks and fine workmanship and just as importantly, it works flawlessly. I use it to rip CDs, watch Blu-rays and other videos, and download software from CD to my booted Windows 7 Intel NUC. I haven't updated any of the programs that come with it, but I will if I have to because the version I have works very well for Blu-ray playback, better than other programs I've used for that. I will now pay attention to this manufacturer when buying other devices. I almost upgraded a 5th star to emphasize that this isn't slot load but of course it's not what I ordered and it's a good product nonetheless. Very good work indeed, Archgon. --------------- Update: Everything worked fine as described above until it stopped working about a year and a half later: ie stop reading everything. I used it regularly, mostly for listening and ripping CDs; in addition to Blu-ray playback. But now, even though the tray still opens and closes normally, the drive just spins and locks for about 20 seconds when I insert a disc. Let the buyer be alert. Good luck to others. I've lowered my rating to 3 stars because that's the max, although after trying two other $30-40 replacements (Rooful and Nolyth) I settled on Archgon's $30 disc. . There's no Blu-ray on this new one, but it works well and I've rarely used Blu-ray on my computer anyway. Will check this separately after longer use with CDs and DVDs.
