I've decided to prefer this Archgon external drive to the equally attractive Pioneer unit, particularly for its metal construction and matte black finish. I'm very pleased with the looks and fine workmanship and just as importantly, it works flawlessly. I use it to rip CDs, watch Blu-rays and other videos, and download software from CD to my booted Windows 7 Intel NUC. I don't know how Blu-ray works on Linux as I don't want to install a bunch of packages just to try it, but it works fine on Windows and DVD reading works on both Linux and Windows. . I bought this to play Blu-ray on my computer. I would give it five stars but it didn't come with the software to run it. It came with a CYBERLINK MEDIA demo CD. Out of the box everything worked fine.
