It works but with design flaws

I wonder how far the Planet Bike Beamer 3 is from Blinky Super Flash in terms of design and usability. As a rear light, the Blinky is almost perfect, but the Beamer 3 has a few annoying weaknesses. My main criticism is the steering wheel mount. To tighten the handlebar mount, you need to thread the rod through the slot with the notches protruding (a common technique for bike lights). The slots on the Beamer 3 are too far apart, so the bracket cannot be tightened in small increments; Therefore, depending on the thickness of the handlebar, it may be too loose or too tight. It was frustrating when the light dropped when I ran into a bump and couldn't really catch it. This was solved by applying several layers of masking tape around the handlebars to achieve the desired thickness. I had a pair of Bell iPulse front lights that would attach securely to almost any standard handlebar. Second, the opaque body protects the light source so you can't tell if the light is on, off, or blinking unless you hold it down. hand in front of the device. So if I'm driving in fading light but not completely dark, I have to periodically reach for the light to make sure it's on. I'll admit that's very picky of me, and it can actually be seen as a positive thing for cyclists who don't like being distracted by a wisp of light in their peripheral vision. Personally, I like knowing the lights went out unexpectedly, which is what happens. Overall, this bike light gets the job done. Hopefully Planet Bike will make some changes on future models to fix these issues.
