Review on Black Vantec NexStar TX USB 3.0 Hard Drive Dock - Single Bay (NST-D328S3-BK) by Bohyun Rossetti

Some good, some bad, but it does the job.

I bought one of these to meet the need for easy swapping of drives for offline or backup data. He does it wonderfully. It was easy to install, but if you don't have a computer on your desk you can buy a longer eSATA cable as the one that comes with it isn't very long. I had no issues with the power button as mentioned by several reviewers. One annoying thing about this device is that sometimes the drive doesn't align properly in the slot and the SATA and SATA power connectors don't connect. Also, it's so light that it often falls over when there's no drive inside due to the weight of the eSATA and power cord dangling from my desk. It would be nice if they put some ballast on the bottom of the unit. Even if you read or write data to the drive for a long time, your drive will get significantly warmer because it is not cooled by a fan. It would be cool if these things had a small fan, but I don't see how they could get enough airflow to help. The eject button is a little hard to press, and sometimes the drive comes out too far and jumps in the slot. I remove the disc by gently pulling up while pressing the button. However, make sure to turn off the hard drive before removing it. It's tempting to hot-swap drives, but doing so can damage the circuitry, and there's always a chance of internal damage (e.g. head failure) as the drive is still spinning and the heads may not be parked.

Cons
