Review on 🔧 Lang Tools (3495) 12-Piece Fixed Tip Combination Internal & External Snap Ring Pliers Set by Ken Wilson

I use snap ring pliers very often when servicing large industrial plants. I have various circlip pliers from Snap On, Knipex, Hazet and Wiha. I needed a complete set in a case that I could always keep in one of my collection boxes for special work. My first choice was the Williams set (PL1612) but I didn't want to spend that much money even though it was the best choice. Some reviewers have noted that it is the same as Snap On because Lange MAKES Snap On pliers. Nothing is further from the truth. I have various snap-on pliers and they have nothing to do with the quality of the snap-on tool. That aside I think you get what you pay for and this set isn't bad for the money. The company's quality control could have been better as I returned the first set I received because the large straight pliers had no tip. You can see that it wasn't chipped, it never was, as the painted surface remained intact. I decided to try again so I replaced the set and everything was fine with this set. Yes the angle of the pins is bent and I agree this is intentional to hold the ring. What I don't like is that since they're designed with two pins of equal length, they're not ideal for getting straight to a ring that's abutting a side frame or wall, especially with 90 degree pliers. Because if the two halves of the pliers are the same length and overlap, one pin will be shorter than the other. I don't have this problem with other pliers. This might not be a problem for most people, but it definitely lowers the rating of this set. For the money the set is reasonable and probably better than the $30 sets offered here. But don't expect the quality to even come close to a snap-on product.
