Review on XTAR Battery Charger USB C LCD Display: 18650 18700 26650 21700 Ni-MH Charger by Will Moorehead

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good quality charger. A suitable power supply unit could have been supplied for the price.

This is a good quality charger/tester. I was able to check the actual mAh of all my batteries (first 4 banks only) and it charges up to 8 batteries at a time. The testing process takes a long time, so please be patient. That being said, it was great to see manufacturers over-price their batteries. It helps to find good/bad battery suppliers so you can stick with the good ones. Unlike other people here, I had no trouble charging AA or even AAA batteries. Just be aware that the charger is designed for larger batteries (like 18650) so you need to carefully center the AA/AAA so they make contact with the charging pins. Absolutely no problem. I'm taking a star off my rating because I think for the price they're asking they could have included a matching power adapter instead of just a charger and USB cable. Remember that you can only charge batteries with a fraction of the amps your USB power source has compared to the number of batteries you are charging. So, for example, if you use a regular 2000mAh phone charger connected to the included USB-C cable and charge 8 batteries, the maximum charge current is 250mAh for each battery. That means it takes a long time to fully charge the batteries. The USB-C port also only works in one direction. If you connect it the wrong way round the charger won't turn on as it's unwise to reverse the connection so you'll have to manually reverse it (which may be why one of the reviewers mentioned it's DOA). I would also like to see a 9V battery charging connector. This would allow me to get rid of any other fees I have. I'm deducting another star for the last 2 points mentioned, but overall it was a good purchase and I'll keep it.
