A 2018 Yamaha Kodiak 700 had a factory starter that worked after 40 hours and finally stopped working after 80 hours. Like many others, after disassembling the original starter, I found that the magnets inside had completely dissolved. This replacement starter fitted perfectly and now the engine turns faster than when new. I would give 5 stars if I knew more about durability. You do NOT need to remove the exhaust or airbox to replace the starter. Remove the upper panel around the glove box and both side panels. You will also need to remove the faceplate under the brace to access the battery and disconnect it before replacing the starter. Loosen and remove the starter mounting screws on the left side of the machine, then disconnect the electrical connector on the starter on the right side. Pull the starter out of the crankcase and remove it from the left side. Reverse procedure for installation. Remember to lubricate the O-ring on the new starter with engine oil. It took me about an hour from start to finish.
