BIG mount (horrible hardware).

I couldn't get enough of this product. After reading countless reviews on many different models, the bottom line is that no product really stands out. Many reviews of this mount noted that the mount itself was very strong but the hardware (bolts) was cheap (typical of Chinese hardware). That's why I ordered a bracket to replace the device. I was more than satisfied when it arrived. The mount itself can easily hold twice as much as advertised. Then I went to the local hardware store, spent about $5 to replace a few screws (I chose the socket head screws, which are black and easier to machine), and, bingo, you're done. Aside from the slight inconvenience of buying new hardware, I don't think I could have gotten a better mount. We've been using it for a month now and don't regret it. I wish you success. One suggestion - this thing is heavy! If you plan to assemble it yourself as an assembly, think again. I don't remember exactly what the instructions said, but my advice is to remove the backing board that is wall mounted and install it first. Ideally, it should span two studs (when you pull the TV out of the wall, there is a lot of torque on those studs). In my case, however, there was no way to connect the two bolts. I used the heaviest Molly bolts I could find, 4 on each side of the panel. Don't put two Mollys in adjacent holes. Otherwise, apply force to a small area of drywall. Instead, spread them out as widely as possible to distribute the load over a larger area of drywall. I don't necessarily agree with this installation method, but it worked for me. If possible, install this plate on adjacent studs and let new lag robots take care of it. Out of curiosity, I clamped the 2x4 in a workbench vise and tested the included hardware. I know it sounds crazy but after reading the reviews I was just curious. Even after drilling a large enough pilot hole, two of the four mounting screws broke when they were about 3/4 of their original position. All I can say about the screws is that they're junk too.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Long time
