Great kit for beginners or hobbyists

I firmly believe that you should buy the best painting materials you can afford, but expensive, unfamiliar materials tend to be a little intimidating. I wanted to start using gouache, but I wanted to use a relatively cheap paint set that wasn't so cheap that it limited some of gouache's key components. A bit of youtube drew my attention to this kit from himiart. I was initially skeptical and I'll admit it took me over a month to really convince myself to buy (not because of the cost but more out of fear that such a cheap set would have a very poor finish and put me off). gouache forever), but I'm anything but disappointed. The colors are amazing. Let me just reiterate that I have no experience with gouache, so I don't have a base set to compare with Miya Gouache. But as a supplier of art supplies across a wide range of prices, I know junk when I see it, and it's not junk. The colors are nice and creamy, what do you want with gouache? They are also highly pigmented and blend well. When diluted with water, they retain their suppleness and remain highly pigmented. A nice perk for those of you who like to use gouache wet is that the container is airtight. If you watch arleenbean's video of Miya Gouache, you'll see that after a few months of storage, she still had wet paint, which was one of her biggest draws. Not only that, 30ml per color is a bargain at this price compared to similar brands (like Arteza). There are only 2 criticisms I can really make, both of which are so minor that they don't guarantee a lost star. First, this is not an 18 suit set, but a 16 suit set with two whites. White is very important in gouache and the white you use is even more important. A white, commonly referred to as Chinese white (or zinc white), is usually clear and allows for more subtle tonal changes. The other, called Titanium White, is very opaque and will quickly lighten any color you mix it with. Both whites are usually included in watercolor kits, and since titanium white is more opaque, it's very useful for highlights and more. But with the already opaque gouache, I don't really see the need for both shades of white. I'd rather they only include one and add another color to the set. If you have ever seen the Miya Himi 56 Gouache Set, you should know that there are many beautiful gouache colors that we could include here. Second, this is not a criticism of the set itself, but of the company. - Large sets and refills should actually be available through Amazon. It turns out that himiart has quite a wide range of gouache sets, refills, brushes, papers etc available on other sites (I won't name the name here but let's say he had to deal with 40 thieves to to get the treasure he's selling), but the shipping costs are just horrendous. I've never used this particular site so it could be a misunderstanding on my part, but I'm not taking any chances. These gouaches are absolutely worth every penny. I recently went to Amazon to buy a second set to save for later when I noticed they now have 24 color sets of 80ml per well! Bought as soon as possible and now I have an extra set of gouache when this one runs out! Be sure to try these colors, you won't be disappointed!
