Review on Bissell BGC2000 Hercules Canister Vacuum - Commercial Grade by Mike Malvo

This purchase started out great but went downhill quickly. When I first received this item, I plugged it in and turned it on, but it wouldn't start. I turned it off and tried again and it caught fire so I continued cleaning. The switch randomly turned off while cleaning and I had to turn off the switch, unplug and restart to turn it on. On the third use it wouldn't turn on at all and I'm sending it back because it's just not acceptable. The big plus for this little guy is that he has BIG suction power. Everything else is minus. Let me just say that if you are planning to clean carpet, rug or upholstery buy something else, this thing cannot clean the carpet unless there is something on it. I vacuumed with this vacuum cleaner and then went to my vacuum cleaner and collected twice as much as this vacuum cleaner collected. The material seems cheap, thin thermoformed plastic (looks like), I've used it 3 times and it had permanent damage and scratches on the corners. The filter works well and is easy to clean, but the bin compartment is very small and needs to be cleaned for each room, twice if it's a large room. All nozzles work well and fit, except for the hard floor nozzle. It seemed to bounce across the floor and skip spots even after it was adjusted. The place where the hose is attached to the body can break or wear out very easily. The compartment on the back that stores the cable also breaks very easily, and inserting the cable into the compartment is not easy. The canister maneuvers well, but I found it couldn't rotate more than 45 degrees without tipping over. The hose is also stiff, which aggravates the rollover problem. Overall I just wasn't impressed, it was cheaply made and I wouldn't recommend it. Shopvac gets cheaper and lasts longer.
