When my 3 cup zojirushi I bought in 2016 started browning the bottom of the rice, I bought a new 5 cup rice. But since my husband doesn't particularly like rice, I figured I needed something smaller than a 5 cup cooker, so I bought this one and it's perfect. The equivalent measuring cup is about 1/3 of a standard cup (e.g. 2.66 oz), which is half the size of a Zojirushi cup; hence two cups = one cup in a large rice cooker, which is more than enough for one person. White rice takes about 30 minutes to cook and is perfect, while brown rice takes about 45 minutes. The timer function is also excellent and I have used it successfully when setting the maximum cooking time of 12 hours. Excellent goods; small footprint; overall a good buy.
