The filter in the picture below is an OEM with the airflow direction clearly indicated. This filter has an HGI on the text, and when the text is vertical the arrows point up. I don't see any indication if the arrows mean the direction of airflow or if they mean this side up. I tried to ask a question, but since Revain had a character limit, I could only write what sounded like Frankenstein. I currently don't have a filter on my truck and am waiting to hear what the arrow means while trying to figure out how to determine the direction of the filter's airflow. The filter is well made with thicker paper fins than the OEM and feels stiff and well made. It just needs the direction of the airflow to be clearer. just stick with it draft. Here. not something that can be interpreted in different ways. Update - I got 3 answers to my question and 2 suggested an arrow showing the flow direction and 1 said the arrow should point up. I chose the arrow for the airflow direction, but I'm not 100% sure I'm right. 3 stars in the rating are not for the quality of the filter; the filter fits my Sequoia and is very well made. Score for the ambiguity of arrow and text. Just let it indicate the direction of airflow and no doubt. Update #2 - I got confirmation that the arrow means the direction of the airflow. The filter works as expected, so I changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
