This replaces my 3 amp model that lasted ten years. I like the tri-color lamp system, a nice improvement. If I were to buy another one I would go back to the 3 amp. While it's better for a battery to have a slower charge rate, a 3 amp battery never hurt, and being faster is a good thing (but if you tend to leave a 1.5 amp battery plugged in overnight to let it really doesn't matter, I'm glad I can use my old model's cigarette lighter socket with this one, which is very convenient in my car that can use battery repair.
