I am a big fan of BeaverCraft tools but this set of wood carving tools exceeded my expectations. I decided to try these spoon carving tools by carving a maple spoon. I mainly used BeaverCraft hardwood knives because they cut very well and are very strong. I wanted to see how they would handle this maple spoon blank. I love how they feel in hand and how sharp they are. I tried a BeaverCraft bait hook a few years ago and it worked with basswood (softer) but not so well with hardwood. However, the spoon hook in this set was perfectly sharpened and cut through the maple like butter. It was so sharp I got carried away and cut the bottom of the bowl. As a result, I turned this spoon into a spaghetti noodle colander! Let me add that the set was well packaged and each blade is individually boxed and this set is perfect if you are in a woodcarving club and just want to pick up a pair. Knives to club meetings. The seams in the leather case are sewn well and the leather strap is very good, although I haven't used it or the strap yet. Thanks for a good product, BeaverCraft. If you are planning to start carving spoons, get this set. It's a deal! You'll be carving spoons in no time with little investment in tools!
