I couldn't bend it into tow hooks and straps

I think you need to know what you're doing if you want to close the small end over a chain link or carabiner. I couldn't tighten it up a bit. I started with a vise, then switched to a real vise, then resorted to a hammer. Nothing worked. I'm sure it's just my ignorance but I needed a closed end and couldn't get one. I've since found what works for me.
