Cadillac Dog Stroller

I ordered this stroller for my 15 1/2 year old whippet who can no longer walk with us. I figured this would be a way for him to hook up and not miss out. It will take time for him to adjust to being in a wheelchair instead of walking, but we are working on it. I'm glad there is a leash in the stroller so it doesn't jump out. The stroller is advertised for small to medium-sized dogs weighing up to 40 pounds. Well my Whippet is now 30.5 pounds so it should easily meet the specs. However, whippets have long legs and a slender body, making them difficult to fit in a stroller. I tried a lid first but it was too tight (see photo with my younger whippet). So I opened the lid and he's looking a lot happier, but I really need to keep an eye on him so he doesn't run away quickly and try to jump out (even though he was on the hook), not like 15 1/2- the summer can move that fast, but I don't want him to hurt himself trying. The stroller arrived very well packaged. The instructions were very simple and I was able to assemble the stroller without any problems. I am very impressed with the quality of this stroller. It is very well made and very comfortable to press. The handle is nicely padded and adjustable to a comfortable position. The foot brake is conveniently located in the center under the handle. It's easy to install and release. The wheels roll easily over all the terrain I ridden (sidewalk, grass, mud, driveway). There's a nice storage compartment at the bottom for storing leashes, treats, etc. It also comes with a drink holder (which I keep accidentally knocking off). The frame is made of steel. It has a shock absorber to minimize some bumps. The carrier actually has a light, thin cushion for the dog to sit on. Inside there are 2 thin leashes (one on each side) to attach to the dog's collar. This is a nice feature, but for the Whippet the straps are slightly shorter and it tightens when hooked onto a collar or harness. But I can still use them. I use both to keep him from popping out from either side. My whippet can lie in this stroller although it is a bit cramped. If he didn't have severe arthritis, he would be more comfortable than he is now. He seems to prefer sitting in it. There was no way he could sit up in it with the blanket on him. Didn't use the top handle but I think I could think of a way to use it to secure it better inside than the 2 tight lines coming out from under the seat. For the size of my whippet, I don't think I'll ever use it as a carrier or car seat unless I'm moving a pup. However, I really like these features for those with small dogs. Overall I am incredibly happy with this stroller and amazed at how much effort has gone into making it. What a great purchase for those who want a really good dog buggy.
