Review on BOXI Front Hood Gas Charged Lift Support Strut Shock Spring Damper for BMW E36 M3 Convertible Coupe by Mike Betzing

Updated review: poor quality and fit; Does not correspond exactly to OEM part

The product does not meet BMW quality level. The BMW column is solidly constructed. The piston part has a threaded hole that is OEM welded. Also, the clamps hold the post over the eyelet and match the car: cheap, non-functional, doesn't fit and is easy to knock off. I had to remove the clips from the regular part and attach these. Then they grabbed each other to stand still. Shock length is not the same as OEM. The "windscreen washer reservoir holder" had to be "attached" to it. So no direct match. I would definitely not recommend them for BMW. I would return but have already installed and used.1. There is a plastic bracket on the pillar on the passenger side that holds the washer spray wand. This bracket did not snap into place on the new rack. I had to change the mount and use duct tape to hold it in place. I think the strut should come with the new part as it is advertised as an exact OEM replacement.2. Otherwise, they are not an acceptable substitute.
