Patterns and Changes

From the opening pages of the preface, where Daena and Ren explore their vision for this book, to the afterword, Listen to your river, I was mesmerized by the words, the depth of the information, and the Wisdom about the creative process, the photographs (mostly Daena), metaphors and intricate intertwinings of the creative process. I loved Daena's path through improvisation, her wonderful stories about her students and her attitude towards creativity. Daena's structure and spontaneous creativity are impressive. Daena teaches the reader to be in the moment and to say yes, even if it sometimes involves the pain of overcoming obstacles until creativity is reached. I loved Daena's story about Arachne. I liked her take on neuroscience, the brain, and creativity. Brilliant work. Wren's chapter headings alone make the book worth reading, for example I keep thinking why knit, why tie? Ren's play on words about knitting and human relationships combined with her fiber philosophy gave me hours to think. Her ability to weave knitting patterns with human connections is amazing. Coming from a knitting family, I fell in love with Ren's amazing and incredibly colorful work. Even the title of the book "Changing Patterns: Discovering the Patterns of Your Creativity" is apt. This book offers all readers many useful and practical opportunities to discover ways and tools for change in practice. I can't say enough good things about this book. why bind Ren's play on words about knitting and human relationships combined with her fiber philosophy gave me hours to think.
