Review on πŸ”Š Kanto YU2WALNUT PC Gaming Speakers: Powerful 100W Amplifier, USB DAC, Subwoofer Output - Pair of 2 Channel Desktop Speakers with Composite Drivers and Silk Dome Tweeter by Randy Salgado

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Surprisingly dark sound

Typically almost every "computer" speaker I've heard (without a subwoofer) has been too bright/clear with little or no bass. Not this one. In fact, given the small size of these speakers, I was surprised by the mid-bass response. While I was happy with that, I'm less happy that the mids/highs are really muted. Playing through my usual reference tracks I kept wondering if there was some kind of processing in the chain affecting the high frequencies, but when everything is flat they're really easy. dark sound. With the built-in equalizer I can make them a little more usable again. I work a lot with sound, I have Adam A3X monitors and some others. But I think from a design perspective the guys at Kanto made some weird choices with the YU2's response curve. Tried to find a YU2 diagram on the web but couldn't find anything. Three stars because of the price. I like the small size, easy connection and bass response. They are perfect for my setup, have good performance and low noise. But you must do something to lift the veil from above.
