This card was purchased solely to be installed as a booster card in the Drobo 5N NAS. The function is to increase (improve) the speed of data transfer to/from the NAS. It must be in mSATA format. I don't have a way to format an unformatted card (at least one is available here). I installed this card and my NAS recognized it immediately. This card has worked flawlessly 24/7 since it was first installed. I don't have a test device to confirm performance. I couldn't register this card with Dogfish. I would like to express my gratitude to the Dogfish customer service team for their professional response to my question. They reiterated their commitment to replacing the card if it fails within the three-year warranty period. I am planning to buy another card for my other NAS.
