I used 64 x 18mm wheels to replace the standard hard plastic wheels on my Pelikan case that I use to carry my photo gear. I've never been blown away by how hard plastic OEM wheels seem to transfer every bump and vibration to the body, even though I installed a Pelican-padded splitter inside. I came across a couple of reviews where people traded their wheels for luggage/skate wheels and I was intrigued. Can a quick and cheap upgrade make such a big difference? YES OF COURSE! These wheels are very easy to assemble. Simply loosen the two bolts on each side holding the Original Equipment wheel arches, remove the Original Equipment wheel studs inside out and remove the Original Equipment wheels. Then either pull out the OEM bearings and use them in new wheels with an OEM pin, or you can use the included bearings and hardware to attach the new wheels to the housings. I went with the first option and replaced the stylus with the same one that came from the factory and it works great. Now my suitcase rolls very smoothly and since these wheels are rubber they seem to absorb a lot more shock than the factory wheels. It's definitely MUCH quieter than it used to be when taxiing as it's almost silent now. I can't recommend this upgrade enough if you have a Pelican 1510. The 64mm wheels look about as big as you can fit so the wheel doesn't rub against the bodywork. I've seen several reports of using a 68mm wheel, but I don't know if they modified the casing in any other way to accommodate the wheel size.
