There weren't any reviews for this grinder yet so I took a chance and tried it out. There is a similar product Proxxon. However, this requires an additional power source (transformer), which puts the cost in line with this brand. There were two main reasons I chose this one over Proxxon. I bought one of the Proxxons mini chainsaw cutters a few years ago and was completely unimpressed with the quality. Small pieces of plastic fell off. and the switch was where my hand would accidentally turn it off while carving. Secondly. Many reviewers of the Proxxon grinder found that they had to send it back once or even twice before they could get a working one. So. I was really hoping this grinder would reciprocate. not side to side. but side by side is what it does. Useful. but not as much as the movement in and out. The grinding machine is moved back and forth. I was hoping to customize some carving files. Nonetheless. while it will never be my main grinding tool. Of course, there are cases where this is practical. I'm working on cutting out the "cage" and polishing the mesh of the bars helped. Of course. "in and out" movement would be much better for this project. Side to side does NOT get a clear angle. The grinder gets a little warm after about an hour. but not uncomfortable. I usually need a break before then anyway. I used my own coarse sandpaper. by cutting out shapes from self-adhesive backed disc grinding wheels. Angle mounts are the only ones I find useful. and I'll probably adjust the straights by bending or lengthening them. I don't think a small car is noisy. something like barber scissors. I hope it stands the test of time. Just take a look.
