These curtains are better than I expected for the price. The material is soft and hangs well, feels like soft twill. Sometimes curtains are so light they just don't hang, which is good. Both plates were the same length. I looked at them first as my bedroom window faces west and after a few 90 degree days where my bedroom was 85 degrees at midnight I decided I needed more on the window than wooden blinds and cheaper than a portable one air conditioning needed. But since the baseboard heater was under the window I needed a shorter one than the usual 63" and I found it, 45" is just perfect, closes the window, hangs about 4" below the sill and looks nice. I got the beige because I didn't do a darkened cave bedroom, but mainly to block out some of the heat and provide privacy. They darken the bedroom, but not much. I like them and I'm glad I have them.
