I've driven on these spikes for three winters, and this will be my fourth. In the past, by this point, 30% of the spikes were typically missing, but on these, everything is in place. There are also special spikes that seem to hold on more firmly so that even if you drift on asphalt, they won't fly out. Contrary to noise expectations, they weren't particularly noisy, sometimes even louder. I believe that the recessed studs are to blame for this. They don't appear to protrude from the tread as much, which means they likely produce less noise and hold onto the ice more effectively. They accelerate and brake effectively.
