Mine had a black top, not a red one, but that doesn't matter. It has a 1 inch inlet and outlet. So if you want to use it with a pump and 3/4" hose, just get the fittings. I've used one of these for 2 years on a 3/4" pump with diesel with no problems. I like that it's crisp so I have a visual reminder to change the filter when the bowl and filter start, "Rough" looking. Also, when I change the filter, I clean the bowl well with a degreaser to get rid of the fuel discoloration and it looks like new. Watch out for the fittings you get fitted, my Mann isn't the first time - around and the fittings rusted within a week and I found rust particles collecting on the bottom of the bowl Make sure you get stainless steel or iron fittings appropriate for the fuel/fluid are you pumping.
