Review on πŸ“Ά Hawking Technology Hi-Gain Dual-Band 9dBI Directional Antenna Kit for Improved Connectivity (HD9DP) by Michael Baird

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I suspect Hawking's use of the RG174 cable wasn't a good idea as it has a high loss at .

I bought this to extend the range of my Actiontec HDMI wireless TV transmitter. I installed 2 SMA connectors on the Actiontec transmitter and connected this antenna. I haven't seen much improvement. I shortened the antenna cables to about 18 inches and when I plugged them in I saw the signal strength double at the Actiontec receiver. I think Hawking's use of the RG174 cable wasn't a good idea as it has a lot of loss. At 5GHz a low loss cable would have been much better but other than that it worked and increased the range of my Actiontec transmitter. For more range you could probably mount it to an Actiontec receiver.

Pros
  • Useful for more than its intended purpose
Cons
  • Nothing here
