(or dad) THIS is what you need because. 1) Easy to install and you can screw it to the wall which I HIGHLY recommend because when your baby goes from being that cute little perfect baby who doesn't make mistakes to a loud, rude, purring baby more like a primate , as a human, you need this gate to stay in place while they pull it hard and scream at the top of their lungs. 2) The opening is WIDE. This is important even if you and your whole family are little people. The wide opening means less effort when carrying one or two children, groceries or baby items in and out. 3) The gate opens in both directions, but can also be locked from both sides, so you can only open it in one direction. or but. It's hard to explain without seeing it, but believe me it's beautiful. 4) It's made of metal, so it's durable. We're raising kids here, not cute bunnies.
