This thermal printer is a good budget option compared to big brands. The best part is the easy to read and use control panel. The worst is the base. This press does a great job, especially on thermal transfer vinyl (HTV). The heating is even and constant. Unfortunately, the design doesn't suit those who don't have a large work surface and the base will slip if not secured. I have tested this press on both sublimation and HTV. I've found that while it can reach the temperature required for sublimation, it doesn't give the best color reproduction compared to other presses I own. The pressure of this press is fairly steady, and it can certainly apply strong pressure when needed. The heat is constant and relatively even throughout the press, but the temperatures may be a little inaccurate. I ended up getting minor burns (i.e. color damage) on the shirts when trying to sublimate. I own several different types of heat presses and consider myself a pretty accurate judge of how a quality press compares to a cheap one. This press is somewhere in the middle. It's feature-rich and looks well-built, but doesn't offer the same bells and whistles as more expensive presses, and the temps require some learning and temp-testing with different fabrics. My biggest complaint about those abs is in the link to the base. This is not related to the non-slip base and the entire press tends to slide on the work surface. Considering this is a very hot and very heavy object this is definitely a problem and I would suggest finding a proper and safe way to reduce the chances of those abs moving. Some ideas include placing it on a heat-resistant, non-slip surface, or permanently attaching it to your work surface. The instructions provided with this press are seriously lacking. They contain a double-sided sheet of paper that doesn't provide very much information. If you've used abs before, this isn't a problem, but for those with less experience, I highly recommend do some research before using. Also, the instructions say it takes 20-30 minutes to heat up the press, but I found I could easily get the press to a consistently high temperature for 10 minutes. Overall I think this press is a decent budget option.
