I was watching a woodworking class and the instructor said, "Buy a GOOD cartridge. There are expensive cartridges, there are good cartridges, there are regular cartridges and there are cartridges that suck.โ This is a really GOOD durable cartridge. There may be bells and whistles that can be bought for an additional hundred dollars, such as B. Specially shaped jaws. I believe additional jaws are available for this chuck should you need them later. This chuck holds tight for safe turning. Jaws change to hold larger pieces. Sponges are easy to replace. It also has jaws for turning all sizes. Micro turning (like grips), intermediate boxes like boxes of all sizes, and cams for everything else. Highly recommend this chuck for serious amateur turners, conservative professionals and anyone who just wants a secure chuck that won't let go and won't let you go. Head. Cons: Not really. But if I'm giving a fair review, and I'm really VERY picky about criticism. This is an open tooth chuck. This is a good option and a bad option, so it's up to you. Gears MAY get into the debris more easily than a closed chuck if you have a really dirty magazine, but I haven't come across that yet. Again, an open chuck is easy to clean with an air hose. The closed cartridge must be dismantled for cleaning. The case is made from cheap "looking" recycled plastic. the time will show. I've broken cheap plastic cases in a year (mostly latches) and I have a saw in a cheap plastic case that's twenty years old and still works. My thought on this is actually this; I work with wood and love my finest tools in dovetail wooden cases. So when I'm done crafting Christmas gifts this winter, I'll be talking about this wonderful tool. Finally, the key to turn the jaws on and off is pretty flimsy, but works well. Again, as with every key I've ever received with every tool I've ever purchased. bottom line. Buy this. We all watch about twenty rounds of Revane before we pull the trigger. This is NOT a cartridge that collects dust in the box because you hate it. PS: Before that I bought a slightly cheaper cartridge with a big name (bought here at Revain). I bought it before I did my homework. I just trusted the big name. What a waste of my money. I can only use it with a rear support, no shells, boxes or balls. This one allows me to do all of this with the peace of mind that I won't get hit on the head. Now I make really good zero-waste Christmas gifts. Enjoy the wood turning therapy.
