I can't believe I'm writing a toaster review but people deserve a fair warning on this item. He burns toast. Poorly. It has a slider setting of 1 to 7. Setting 7 is for the darkest toast. All you have to do is set it to 3 and your toast will burn. Set it to 4 and your toast will turn black and smoke will come out of the slots. (The bread was honey wheat, of course.) I was afraid to try the 7 settings for fear of setting the house on fire. I thought it might be defective so I bought a second one from a regular store but got the same result. I called Cuisinart customer service and they said this was the toaster. The phone operator said he recommends customers keep the slider below the 2 setting. He goes all the way up to a 7, but recommends staying under 2 once the smoke runs out on a 4. I'm not making this up. After all, there is no room for adjustments. Squeezing the slider lightly to brown it will burn the toast. I sent it back.
