Review on πŸ”§ Reliable Performance Guaranteed with Hitachi CPS0005 Engine Camshaft Position Sensor by Bobby Diaz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Caution good for camshaft position

Purchased to replace the camshaft position sensor on bank 2 of my '06 Murano. Once I installed it and cleared the trouble codes the VQ35 was like new. Since then almost 2 weeks have passed and I have driven several hundred kilometers on the odometer without any problems. And now the story. I am abroad and decided to order a replacement part (ie not Hitachi, not Bosch) on another website as they can deliver faster. It arrived, I broke out the socket set, installed it, cleared the codes from the ECU and the engine seemed to run fine. After a few minutes of idling, I decided to test the car by driving around the block a few times. The first and second descent went without incident. At turn three the engine died, all my hydraulics failed (yes, the steering and brakes failed) and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Literally in a matter of seconds I realized what had gone wrong and restarted the engine by unplugging the sensor. The starter took more revs than usual to get the engine going again, but after that I was able to get back into the garage without going into limp mode. Losing control of the car was unsettling and thankfully no one was injured. . It's scary to imagine how things would have turned out if the engine had stalled at high speed on the Autobahn, for example. It could easily become deadly. As it turns out, the replacement sensor shorted itself out, which could cause the ECU to reboot. My advice is to buy directly from the retailer or from original suppliers from trusted sources. Not only will you save yourself heartache, but you can save lives, including your own.
