Review on πŸ“‘ High gain directional panel antenna - Alfa APA-M25 Dual Band with RP-SMA Connector (10dBi) - Compare to Asus WL-ANT-157 by Frank Villanueva

Revainrating 5 out of 5

After going through the floor I went from the best 130Mbps to 230+Mbps

I would give this a 1 to 5 star rating rate depending on how you use it and what you need. I first connected it to my expensive Asus router with 3 antennas and replaced one antenna. As another reviewer said, it doesn't rotate properly to face the rear. There is a stop inside so it only rotates 180 degrees when bent 90 degrees. I turned my router off which would reduce its cooling and looking weird and unstable to test it. There was no improvement in the data rate and signal measurements of the cellular application. 1 star. I then plugged it into my USB dongle with dual antennas and RTL8812AU chipset that I bought from Amazon. I'm having trouble waking up from sleep or hibernation with win10 and need to restart daily so I won't direct you to a specific URL for that. By replacing one of the antennas on it and experimenting with free internet speed tests, I was able to get a significant boost in Mbps. Going through the floor I went from 130Mbps to 230+Mbps! This is my ISP's max speed on my paid plan, with a 5 GHz channel, a slow-starting 2.4 GHz channel, and a max speed of 70 Mbps. I should mention that this replaces one of the straight high gain antennas that have already made a huge difference.

Pros
  • Gain: 8dBi at 2.4GHz 10dBi at 5GHz
Cons
  • No gain
