So far so good for virtual storage pool

I've been using five of these in my virtual storage pool (Windows Server 2016 storage pool) for my home server for four months. Two bad sectors have formed on a hard drive, revealed by reformatting. Maybe six months from now I'll trust them as much as I did the WD Red drives they replaced - until then all my volumes are three-way mirrors and I have remote backups. 2.5" drives. And they're almost silent. Not the fastest kid on the block, no wonder. However, I'm seeing less of an impact from SMR than I expected. It's interesting to note that the external version of this 5TB drive contains the exact same drive Everything except the serial number of the drive is externally exactly the same as the firmware and all other parameters I was able to check with HD Tune at the time The external drive is priced at 119 versus 189 for this internal version If you have a drive pulling it out of the case will of course void the warranty so the question is how much is the warranty worth. Will more than one in three drives fail during the warranty period? UPDATE 08/17/2018: All five drives have been working fine since January I have them then erased and reformatted before redeploying I have a spare drive but I don't bother with hot swapping due to the uptime for mine n Home server is not critical - I can afford a day of downtime if the drive fails severely. These little drives perform exactly as you would expect. Upgrade to five stars. UPDATE 12/16/2018: A year has passed for most of my drives. Still going well. A drive has been disconnected from my SAS card twice, it's hard to tell if it's the drive, the card or the cable. In doing so, I've seen how well the dual redundancy works - the storage pool didn't even twitch, no downtime, no read-only mode, only redundancy was restored using free space on other drives while hours were using single redundancy became. I removed and reinserted the detached drive and everything was back to normal (albeit a little unbalanced free space).
