Item returned due to FALSE USB drive insert signal every 2-4 seconds. Windows was forced to constantly mount and unmount a non-existent USB drive. Or maybe it should have been SD or other media that also reported USB hubs. In any case, File Explorer was more difficult to use due to the disc's constant appearances and disappearances. Also, of course, the Windows 10 OS as a whole was doing unnecessary work - more than the CPU cycles would suggest as it messed around with I/O and UI and kept system file activity waiting. The actual reason for this behavior could be a rare chip failure in the USB hub. Or a manufacturing issue where the solder crossed a drop - basically a quality control issue. Or I can also speculate that this behavior could have been the result of a very bad design decision where the device pulsed on purpose to know if a media or USB device was connected. Given my sample size of 1 device, it's hard to say. But if other reviews also speak of ripple. Well that would probably indicate a design flaw as only a few thousand of these precise devices were made worldwide (or really bad quality control). Otherwise it would be a really good idea for a front panel device with lots of USB ports (which tend to break physically after lots of insertions).
